i am revisiting Othello.... this is the first time i have watched the movie. i usually won't do shakespeare on film unless it is a royal company production. i am, however, impressed :) Laurence Fishburne is awesome.....and hot as othello ;)

Love is....merely a lust of the blood and a permission of the will.

my second favorite quote of hearts and love.

the first is: a heart will never be practical until it is be made to be unbreakable.

of course there are lots from Kundera too :)

so how i spent my winter vacation...
refer to icon ;)

yeah i broke and went back to the wonderful world of warcraft with the expansion pack. it hasn't taken long at all to explore all the new content, very much unlike the last xpac, which took months to get to - and do decently in - endgame. the only difference is now i am raiding on my undead shadow priest on a pvp server instead of my night elf holy priest on a friendly server. melting faces is so much more fun and much less stress! i did level both my priests to 80 and am getting the horde rogue there too, mainly to make gold for me. the ally rogue will probably collect dust with the rest of them. for the horde! ;)

so, to my WoW friends out there....i'm on Ursin mostly now. my priest is kumata and my rogue is jasisi. i'm still on malaika on Llane from time to time, but not so much. come say hello! :)

"The American people have spoken, and they have spoken clearly."

yes, they have, Senator McCain. By the way, thank you ever so much for choosing Governor Palin. Without her you may have won.

i think, sometime in the future, i may not have to say i am canadian when i travel. :)

while i am thrilled that prop 2 is passing in CA, it seems skewed that the same people who support the rights of animals do not support them for humans.

there are so many more important and encompassing issues that should be in place of these gay marriage ballots................ bittersweet.

Change. Hope. Obama.

Florida seems to be passing the ban on gay marriage. Arkansas on allowing gay couples to adopt children.

what the hell is wrong with people? more guns kill people in both states than gay couples. more straight folks beat the hell out of, kill and just plain neglect children than gay couples.

if marriage is so fucking sacred then those who oppose gay marriage should not be allowed to divorce - ever. infidelity should come with a heavy penalty.

morality should never ever ever be legislated.

Triggerman in notorious AK murder found dead
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- A spokesman for the Alaska Department of Corrections says John Carlin, the gunman in a notorious Alaska killing, has been found dead at the state prison in Seward.

Corrections spokesman Richard Schmitz says Carlin was found dead under suspicious circumstances Monday night.

Carlin was convicted of conspiring with Mechele Linehan, a former Anchorage stripper turned soccer mom, in the 1996 shooting death of Linehan's fiance, Kent Leppink. Leppink's body was found off a trail south of Anchorage.

Prosecutors say Linehan and Carlin orchestrated the killing in the mistaken belief that Linehan would receive insurance money.

Linehan was arrested in 2006 in Olympia, Wash., where she was living with her husband, a physician

it is quite chilly this morning. i actually dug out my heater last night. i love it. sweater weather, yum :)
i sent off, last week, for a stack of death certificates from the state to confirm some of my ancestors. i am impressed with the turn around time - they all arrived yesterday and they even included an obituary. texas and missouri costs three times as much for records and takes four times as long. it answered some questions, but created more -as usual!

can't wait for thursday....i need to get away :)

k this is one of those self-pity posts, so skip along....

i am feeling awfully lonely this weekend. just when i think i have a handle on being alone - and actually liking it, the lonely bug creeps in. i am sure it will pass, but it has me thinking again. i do not want to go back into the personal ad thing, but i also don't want to go through the motions of going out to meet people - and if i did, the odds of meeting someone like me is about as high as palin joining NOW...it could happen but, uh, yeah.
so i read a few personal ads anyway. the idea of getting involved with a couple again scares the hell out of me. in theory, it is ideal for me. but most of them had undertones of live in housekeeper and "duties"...not my thing. that isn't a warm and fuzzy feeling. nothing remotely interesting in the one on one field, male or female, either.

it is sharing i miss most (yeah ok sex would be pretty sweet too). a bottle of wine on the deck these cool evenings, a ride on the lakefront, festivals, advice on all these grad school decisions (or someone to just make them for me!), a kick in the ass when i procrastinate studying or stay up much too late, hands in my hair...ok i am getting off track now....

i wonder if i will ever get over missing chris. i blame him for my seclusion, still.

i am not a designer kind of girl, except for one thing: triple five soul bags. i have been trying for over a year now to try and find one to replace an old one to no avail :(
i didn't expect to find one exactly like it since everyone sold out of them that season, but hoped they would make another sort of like it. nothing even close to it for fall 08. so, i thought maybe someone would get tired of it and sell it on ebay. no luck.
i need a new messenger bag... why do i have to be so damn picky about it?

on a happy note - my mom and i are taking a weekend break next week and going to natchez. i love natchez. i am very much looking forward to it.

and halloween is my favorite season. saw V comes out tomorrow! saw and house of shock this weekend...woohoo. a friend of mine knows the owner and gets us past the long long lines. this year will be better than last. :)
i am ready for the break!

a coroner's inquest... interesting to me how he calls the poetry crackbrained...

PICAYUNE - TUESDAY MORNING, MAY 12, 1863, PAGE 2

CRUSHED BY THE CARS - Yesterday morning a shocking sight presented itself
to those who reside in the neighborhood of St. Charles and Philip streets,
in the Fourth District. There were, lying on the Carrollton Railroad track,
the terribly mangled remains of a human being who had evidently been
crushed to death when the train made its last trip on Sunday night. All the
facts and circumstances of the case lead directly to the supposition that
the act was intentional. One of the legs of the deceased was crushed both
above and below the knee, and the head and other parts of the body were
contused and mutilated. Deceased was evidently a German, and between 30 and
35 years of age. From registry papers found in the pocket, it is supposed
that his name was William Fidler (sic), and that he had never abjured his
original nationality. A Masonic chart and a memorandum book were also found
about his person, the first of which was inscribed with the name of Robert
Saunders, and the other was helf filled with scraps of German poetry, some
original and some selected. The original poetry was peculiarly of a
crackbrained order, being evidently the offspring of "a mind diseased."
Among the last lines there were direct allusions to his fate, which may be
translated thus:

"I am now upon the rail.
The spirits of earth and air invite me.
I come. My back is turned upon my fatherland.
Shaking off mortality, I become immortal.
The thirsty earth will drink my blood,
And flowers will spring into fragrance
Where I fester. Spirits of my fathers, welcome me.
I hear the whistle of the iron horse:
The catastrophe approaches."

A verdict was returned, setting forth the manner in which deceased came to
his death, though it could not be definitely ascertained by the jury
whether the occurrence was intentional or accidental. The above
translation, however, seems to leave no doubt upon that subject.
